| | | Five moths for ID please These were in my moth trap this morning: Thought this would be easy to ID, but it's got me beat! No idea! I thought Common Carpet at first, but looking again I don't think it is No idea A Tortrix of some sort?
Thanks! |

| | | Re: Five moths for ID please Thanks artdemole, I can now see clearly that it's a Brimstone ( I had 6 regularly coloured ones in the trap this morning). I don't think it's worn, I've searched on the web and there seem to have been one or two similar ones photographed over the years, possibly a subspecies Opisthograptis luteolata ab. albescens. It will be interesting to see what other people say. |

| | | Re: Five moths for ID please Normally I run a mile from carpet moths, but I don't think 3. has the word in its name, so I reckon I'll have a stab at Small Phoenix, Ecliptopera silaceata, mainly due to finding a similar moth in the following link: Ecliptopera silaceata Pictures, Ecliptopera silaceata Photos | PhotoBank NaturePhoto-CZ

The one in your link is just like mine. I didn't recognise it from my book because the 'tear-drop'-like markings in the middle of the broad crossband are obscured/missing. |
