Seen in Cornwall this week. about 20mm

I had this confirmed as a Copper Underwing (possibly Svensson's CU) recently: 
I have to admit that I didn't recognise it as the same species, and I'm still not sure what yours is.

Thanks deb. your CU looks completely different from my moth. I've trawled through most of the online id sites and can't find anything like it. I think its probably a very worn individual but hopefully somebody will be able to id it.

I agree your moth is a tricky one. I have it in my mind, and will continue to consider any that look like this as I learn more.  
(I didn't mean to imply that mine might well be a Svensson's - just read my post - badly worded - I think probably not).

With copper underwings I know that many people commonly record them as copper underwing agg as it is very difficult to accurately separate Svenssons and Copper. |
