Thanks Adam. I must admit the picture you linked from UK Moths does look very similar to my moth. As a novice I'm still confused so would welcome any further advice on this one.

Ok, so there is doubt..

Ground colour is obviously variable, I guess it's the white lines which make the difference.. that is a guess though!
