| | | Large day-flying moth for ID This was flying around outside my front door when I got back from shopping this afternoon, eventually settling just under the roof. It appeared to be close to the size of a Red Admiral, with conspicuous white markings on the underwing in flight. Apologies for the rubbish photo - taken in a hurry from 20' at max. zoom - I'm surprised it came out as well as it did

| | | Re: Large day-flying moth for ID Thanks Jason. I've had a look at some pics in the Gallery, and you're clearly right, Red Underwing it is. Splendid creature, are they normally day flyers or has it been disturbed from somewhere?
Nightshade - PSE = Photoshop Elements, yes? I need some image editing software, is it free? I'd like to see what you did with the pic, can you post it?
Obliged,
T2

| | | Re: Large day-flying moth for ID I can post to your e-mail PM me (and every other site on the web) but WAB, no.
I put my photo on the site and it took forever.
At the moment elements 9, is available from Amazon (and other retailers perhaps) at £58. but if it is just the odd occasion Irfan view and Picasa do a decent job for nothing.
