Hi Julian,
I think this may be a Broad-barred White.

This one confuses me. It looks like a Small Ranunculus Hecatera dysodea, but then I read they don't fly now. But it does look spot on for this species.

Townsend, Waring and Lewington does say early August for SR if that helps.

Did the moth have a shimmery gold look to it?
I had a Small Ranunculus last year & they have that to them.
Beautiful moth.
If it is, then it's one to notify your county recorder about.
It is a red data book species.

To help you compare, here are one of each that I had last year.

I've finally bought myself a copy of Waring & Townsend and it says there isn't much difference between the grey version of BBW and SR, so will have to wait and see if it was gold and shimmery or not.

I'll let you know, don't want you spending sleepless nights wondering about it
