| | | Common or Riband Wave? Photographed in west Hants. We have the excellent book "Insects of the New Forest and Surrounding Area" by Paul Brock, but the photo of the Common Wave seems to show broader bands than this one. Could it be the Riband Wave ab. remutata? Also, it is adopting the same posture as the Rose-flounced Tabby (q.v.) which may - or may not - be significant. A positive ID would be much appreciated, please.
Thanks

| | | Re: Common or Riband Wave? Hi Trik,
I think this is going to be a Riband Wave sitting funny.
Came across one sitting just like this a week ago.
Thought it was a Clay-triple Lines but it turned out to be a Riband Wave.

| | | Re: Common or Riband Wave? That is what I thought, Cordaline, but it is good to have confirmation.
The "normal" Riband Wave has a broad band across the wings, so, is it ab. remutata after all?
Thanks again
