| | | Moths to confirm please
I think these are,
1. Common Marbled Carpet? supposed to be very variable
2. Treble Bar? rather than Lesser Treble Bar
3. Lunar Underwing?
Many thanks in advance,
Julian |

Common Marbled Carpet looks good.
Difficult to say which Treble Bar as it's worn.
I would say the 3rd is Lesser Yellow Underwing.

| | | Re: Moths to confirm please Thanks Cordaline, I was going between the various underwings, just had a look on Norfolk moths, and yes you're right it's a lesser yellow. I appreciate the treble bar is worn, it's the first one I've caught though |

The main thing is to look at the angle of the top crossline. In Treble-bar it is a right angle with a slightly rounded outside edge. The Lesser has an acute angle, which has a sharp outside edge to it. The colouring can vary but the Lesser usually has a slight faded look to it. Whereas the Treble-bar usually looks crisper, when they are both fresh. They are both common but the Lesser is more restricted in its range.
Cheers,
Adam |
