| | | Nuther moth ID please Sorry to add to the growing list of ID requests, but a search on Hants Flying Tonight did not help.
Very small, but, apart from that, it does not appear to have any obvious distinguishing features, unfortunately.
Thanks in advance.

That's an Endotrycha flammealis.

| | | Re: Nuther moth ID please Thanks for the ID, Cordaline. I assume that it doesn`t have a common, descriptive, name like "White Garage Door" moth?

| | | Re: Nuther moth ID please I've heard it called Rose-flounced Tabby, but don't know if that's an accepted name.
Its resting posture is pretty distinctive and is certainly what catches my eye when I see one. |

| | | Re: Nuther moth ID please I tried Googling "Rose-flounced Tabby" and there were plenty of hits for Endotricha flammealis.
Most of the common names for moths are very descriptive, but I wouldn`t have said that Endotricha flammealis was rose-coloured (pink?), flounced, or had tabby markings, but thanks anyway!

| | | Re: Nuther moth ID please In my photo, you can see a pair of the moth`s "knees" sticking out just in front of the wings, but are those long (out-of-focus) appendages also legs, please? If so, which pair are they? They are very long and the positioning doesn`t look right for forelegs...

Trik | Most moths will have slight variations in colour.
Depending on age & how worn they are etc.
A nice fresh Endo flam will be a lovely rose colour with a hint of yellow aswell.
Probably hence the reference to 'flame' in the name.
Pretty moth & as Nutmeg says, very distinctive.
