| | | Help with id for 2 moths please I am busily counting butterflies for the Big Butterfly Count, managed to get a couple of pics of moths which I am not sure about. Could the first one be a July Belle - the markings/colour are more like Lead Belle but they aren't supposed to be around in July. The second looks a bit like a Small White Wave ( in the grass this afternoon it looked silvery) but I really don't know. Moths are so difficult to id! Cheers. |

Don't give up Shirl- there are so many moths so it can be bewildering, but start with the distinctive ones. Some species can be very variable + quite a few have me scratching my head. I find WAB has helped me learn a few as well as some dedicated moth forums. |

| | | Re: Help with id for 2 moths please I won't give up, at least if I can get a photo it's a start but they are very quick to move! Saw both 5 & 6 spot burnet moths this afternoon, they are much more obliging!
