| | | It looked like a Clifden Nonpareil Moth Last night whilst fishing on a countryside river, a big black, bat type thing kept on flying by my face, which was a bit odd cause bats never usually fly that close.. after about the second or third time in 10mins i realised it wasnt a bat and cringed thinking ''if it wasnt a bat it must have been a giant moth'' so i zipped up my coat and put my hood on as it was quite freeky.. he flew around me several times throughout the night, then it just stopped.. come 3am i decided to pack away and go home, so after i loaded all the tackle into the car i went back to check and see that i hadnt left any bits etc, right where i had my chair the ' bat-moth' was sitting next to it on a strand of grass with glowing red ruby eyes, i took a photo, then went back to the car got a container, i have it right now in my house, i just wanted to show a few people and take a better photo before i release it back..
when i upload the photos id be very greatful if someone could let me know what this is, ive looked through hundreds of pictures the closest i found was a Clifden Nonpareil Moth, except this one had gold under wings and not blue.. it has thorny legs, thick furry foxy head, the biggest moth ive ever seen by a mile, thanks |
