| | | Re: ID PLEASE of this moth It's a bit of a small image, but posture and colouring suggest Pale Tussock. Not seen one sunbathing before! |

| | | Re: ID PLEASE of this moth They're fairly common in England and Wales. I trap in my garden regularly but never see them in high numbers; just a few a year. |

Pardon me for being dim but why do you trap moths is it due to interest and are they let free after identification!! |

| | | Re: ID PLEASE of this moth I started trapping because of an interest (my dad ran an MV trap and I grew up liking moths). I use an MV light trap, which I run about once a week, and record everything that appears. The moths are then released. All my records are passed on to my county recorder.
Not a lot different from recording other things, except without a light trap (and sugaring) you're just not going to see many moths at all! |

| | | Re: ID PLEASE of this moth Thats quite interesting. Never thought of doing something like that. I'm a little wary of moths dont know why they appear angry Have you found anything rare and unusual or is it just the regulars you get!! |

| | | Re: ID PLEASE of this moth I've seen a few uncommon species, but to be honest there's such variety I'm happy to see whatever turns up. I never know what's going to be there when I open the trap and I still get new records for the garden. Some of the common moths are extremely beautiful - take a look at an Elephant Hawkmoth, a Burnished Brass or a Green Silver-lines (and loads more!).
Micros are trickier but worth the challenge. |

| | | Re: ID PLEASE of this moth I suppose its like anything if you are interested in something then the thrill is always there no matter what you find. Good for you though taking the time and interest to record these events | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
