ID Moth please

Please help I D this moth, I am not sure if it might be a Tiger Eye Moth. Any information on what plants the larvae will live on.

Maybe I should add photographed in Liverpool Sunday 26th June 2011 V.hot day resting on back of shed door about 5cm

Hi and welcome.

It's an Eyed Hawkmoth and the larvae feed on sallow, apple and various other trees.

Thanks very much for that quick reply. I can make sure that the eggs this unusual moth left are transferred to a place where they have a better chance of survival.

It's associated with Willows.
