thanks for that.....just out of interest, where would you start to identify it....i know of the uk moths website for micros etc...

It's a Pyralidae moth so if you go to UKMoths' systematic list and then scroll a long way down you will eventually come to the Pyralidae family. It might seem a long winded way of doing things but I got to grips with many of the micro just by scrolling through the images until I found the right one. It's surprising how quickly you will pick up family features.

'British Moths and Butterflies' a photographic guide by Chris Manley includes some of the commonest micro's - its a good place to start but you have to remember they aren't all there!

I try to get an initial possible identification from there and then check using the UK Moths website.
