| | Good moth plants Hi , As I am intersted in moths , especialy the "big uns" (hawkmoths ) I would like to know if any one knows any plants that will attract them to feed in my garden , I already have a young native honey suckle and some tobbaco plants .. Ive heard that some hawkmoths feed at fushias ? can anybody confirm this ... Any info is good info ! |

I planted lots of lavender, herbs and 3 honeysuckles also a golden hop as some moths breed on it not sure what, but I get a good assortment of moths even had a magpie moth last year poplar hawk moth and lots more all by accident came into to the house to be released the day after.
Also a pond helps to bring them in. |

The three commonest don`t feed as adults thats Poplar, Eyed and Lime Hawks.
ElephanT Hawks do feed but there again i have only ever found adults with a light trap.
To my way of thinking if you want Hawkmoths look for larvae or eggs on their food plants. It`s good fun going round at night hunting caterpillars with torch in any case.
