| | | Broad-bordered bee hawkmoth
I did a general search to see if I could discover how rare these moths are in the UK and found references to them on WAB in 2007 and 2011.
We get plenty of hummingbird hawkmoths here (I'm in France) and - unless this is one I've missed because it managed to get itself stuck in the conservatory and was stationary as a result - this is the first time I've come across a broad-bordered bee hawkmoth.
Could anyone please tell me quite how rare, or scarce they actually are?

U.K moths state: Its distribution covers much of southern England, where it is usually local. Broad-bordered Bee Hawk-moth Hemaris fuciformis - UKMoths
Bit more I have found here: Home - Butterfly Conservation

| | | Re: Broad-bordered bee hawkmoth I don't know how rare they are but I have only ever heard of them once and that was on 29/04/2007 when we came across them in Westleton Woods, Suffolk. Here are three of the photos I took.

C | Probably is out of date, I know many records on the web/ NBN are out of date, only thing I can find at the moment. Maybe someone else here has some other recordings? Looks like a interesting species though. Superb pics John.
