| | Confirmation and identification help please I took these pictures of a couple of moths, which were attracted to the light of the house, last night.
This one, I believe is a Hebrew Character (I'll be thankful for a confirmation)
And this one, I have ideas but I'm not sure and would appreciate some help

You're correct with your 1st - definately Hebrew Character, the black mark on each wing is diagnostic for this species.
Your 2nd is a Common Quaker - the white ring marking the kidneys and white subterminal bar along each forewing separate this species from the similar Small Quaker.
Hope that helps,

| | | Re: Confirmation and identification help please I guess it's possible, I think that greyish colour is a result of the flash rather than it's natural colour though. Perhaps Lindsey can confirm that?
I based my id on the very crisp white band across the forewing which Powdered doesn't show (as far as I am aware?) and the strongly marked kidneys on the otherwise relatively plain background colour.
Looking at it again, it could be argued that its head/thorax do look quite large for Common.
I stand to be corrected!!

| | Re: Confirmation and identification help please I wouldn't say it was because of the flash too much because the picture where it is on the plant stem I was standing quite far away from it but had zoomed in so the flash wouldn't have had as much impact if that makes sense and I do remember it being as pale as it looks on the photo

I agree with the clearly more educated JennyS with Powdered Quaker (I hate being wrong! Lol)
