1st trapping of the year last night.
Off to a good start with a lifer:-
1x Pine Beauty

Also:-
4x Common Quaker

They are beauties. I remember a couple of years ago on a wildlife trip to the Highlands we did some moth trapping several times + this was one of the commoner catches.

I have seen it a couple of times down here.

I only seem to be getting Common Quakers at the moment.

A very slow start up here, I've had the trap out on four occasions and on three caught absolutely nothing. On the other just 1 Pale Brindled Beauty and 2 Chestnut. Am trying again tonight.

Last night was the first time I've trapped this year. Lots of Common and Small Quakers, plus a new for garden - a Twin-Spotted Quaker. Hopefully it's set the tone for a good year!

Used the trap twice so far this year but only had a Yellow Horned and Common Quakers.

Trap is out tonight so hopefully now its a tad warmer I might get a wider range.

Managed to catch 5 moths last night! 3 Small Quaker and 2 Hebrew Character.

Last night was a bit mental - 45 Common Quakers I counted this morning. I don't recall getting 45 of anything in the past few years I've been trapping, even in July/August. Lots of Hebrew Character, Clouded Drab and Small Quaker as well. Also:

Early Grey
Pine Beauty
Brindled Pug
Twin-spotted Quaker
Tortricodes alternella
Acleris literana - Sprinkled Rough-wing*

and a few yet to identify.

Woohoo! The moths are back!

After several fruitless attempts during the winter months, I had 49 moths in and around my trap last night. Mainly Common Quakers (I think!) and Hebrew Characters, with a few Small Quakers and Twin-spotted Quakers, plus one or two others that I shall need help identifying.

I shall resurrect my own moth thread later.
