I think November Moth, Pale November Moth and Autumn Moth can only be separated by examination of their genitalia. Otherwise they are recorded as 'November Moth agg.', I believe.
(But don't believe anything I say, I'm totally new to moths!  ) |

| | | Re: Moth id please. Pete's right. If you see what you think is a November Moth, Pale November Moth or Autumnal Moth record it as 'November Moth agg' as ID is only reliably gained by examination of the genitalia (and knowing what you're looking for too, of course!).
There is a fourth Epirrita spp to be found in the UK which can also be confused with the above 3 and that's the Small Autumnal Moth. Although it has a slightly earlier flight season an overlap is possible in some areas, but it's habitat is upland moorland so may not come into the mix for most.
