| | | Worth trapping through the winter months? I'm sure there was a thread asking whether its worth trapping through the winter months but I can't find it ...... I think the answer has to be 'Yes' whenever its mild.
I've just got a battery 6W Actinet so I thought I'd give it a try-out last night in a bit of sheltered woodland near my garden .........

| | | Re: Worth trapping through the winter months? That's a great catch for this time of year. I haven't had my trap out for ages, too many other things on the go when the weather is suitable, and poor weather when I've got the time.
I think if you are in an area with generally mild weather, it's worth carrying on through the winter. I gave up during last winter, the trap kept sinking into the two feet plus of snow in my back garden.

| | | Re: Worth trapping through the winter months? What a brilliant catch! That's a surprisingly large number of moths for this time of year, I'd have thought - and you've got six species I've yet to see.
Yes, there was another thread asking if it was worth trapping through the winter, because I know I said that I intended to. My last couple of attempts have been disappointing, but hopefully I'll get better results on milder nights. |

Some real beauties crammed in there too - must have been a sight to behold.
There should be a 'winter moth trapping' sticky thread! |
