Was just wondering about the rules for the image Gallery: are white backgrounds strictly forbidden? Or just frowned on?? 
I normally photograph all the moths I catch against white paper (I bring them indoors for ID anyway) - the result is 'clinical' and unnatural, but the finer details of the moths come out very well & are easier to see when there's not distracting leaves/stems/grasses in the way (and the risk of them escaping).
I noticed that a lot of moth photos already in the Gallery also have unnatural backgrounds (hands, egg cartons, paper).
Is it then ok for me to upload my white-background-photos, or would I just be adding to the problem?
Advice appreciated before I transgress!  |

I dont see any problem with a white background and you did say the Image library and not the main Gallery.
But dont take my word try uploading your images and see if they get through.
The mods dont give a reason for refusal but if you follow the guidelines your images should get through..

I've had a wee look at the FAQ, it doesn't mention anything about white backgrounds on macro shots of insects but it doesn't say that it's not allowed either.
I shall give it a try anyway, thanks!  |
