Unfortunately the Met Office lied - much colder than forecast, and the bright full moon hasn't exactly helped numbers. Not even a Large Yellow Underwing last night.

I think in the south Buttoned Snout isn't that uncommon. Often best detected by searching for larvae on Hops. Nice photo by the way, Peter!  |

Yep a species that is doing very well here in Essex, in my previous garden i'd get one or two per night in peak season.

Another two nights trapping - good weather for it, probably the best October hauls I've had. Two new ones for me - The Mallow and The Sallow. Love the moths at this time of year, all the yellows and oranges.
