| | | Macro and two micros for ID please I found this in Huntingdon on Wednesday morning. The light was very poor so I used flash and the colours are therefore not too great:

These two micros were in my moth trap this morning (in South Beds):

Thanks! |

| | | Re: Macro and two micros for ID please Hi Pete,
The first looks like Mullein Wave, a nice find as it's quite a local moth!
I think the micros are Epiphyas postvittana (Light Brown Apple Moth) and Archips podana (Large Fruit-tree Tortrix).

| | | Re: Macro and two micros for ID please Thanks Guy!
There were two other Light Brown Apple Moths in my trap this morning (which I managed to identify myself!), the first I've seen.
If that IS a Mullein Wave, it would be the first one seen in Huntingdonshire since 1970 (according to the Huntingdonshire Moth and Butterfly Group's website). Having now looked it up in my book and on various web sites, it does look like one to me - but in my ignorance, I don't know if there are any similar species that it might be confused with. So I'll be interested in seeing what other people think! |

| | | Re: Macro and two micros for ID please 1. looks more like a Small Dusty Wave to me. Lots around at the moment, here at least.
<edit> bizarrely, I just submitted my post, looked to the right and spotted a Small Dusty Wave sitting on the door of a cupboard. Spooky. |

| | | Re: Macro and two micros for ID please Thanks pete76, that would seem more likely. And I'm kicking myself, as I've seen one before - there was one in the house a year or two ago that I had ID'd here on WAB.
And you may also have helped me ID one of the mystery moths in my trap this morning, too! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
