Clifden nonpareil?

I am very excited about this huge moth I found in my bathroom. Could it possibly be an arctic visitor?

Hi and welcome to the site!
This is an Old Lady - Mormo maura rather than a Clifden Nonpareil I'm afraid, still a very impressive moth though as you've seen! They're not especially rare but it's a good find, not many people get to see them as they aren't as strongly attracted to light as most moths.
There have been some sightings of Clifden Nonpareil in the south of the country recently, hopefully they will manage to colonise again!

Ah! I have just looked it up - 'frequents damp old buildings' Perhaps my bathroom is a little damp and old now I think of it!
