| | | Help with 1 macro and 3 micros, please. Hi, last night I actually had a half decent catch (for me) and I am now left with these that I am struggling with:
1. This is just far too worn for me to guess and it doesn't help that I've O.D'd on coffee so I can't keep my hands steady:
2. I think this is a Eudonia sp but the only one it fits has the wrong habitat so I wonder if it is also a bit worn...
3. My best guess is Depressaria sp, but I'm not very confident...
4. And finally, are these all Agriphila tristella? The Crambidae are giving me a bit of trouble, though I do get a lot of them!
Thanks for looking, Jo

To me the 2nd and 3rd Crambids definitely look like Agriphila tristella, but I'll leave the micros to someone else!

| | | Re: Help with 1 macro and 3 micros, please. Thanks Guy and Widiot, I can see it's a Bee moth now you have pointed me in that direction! I always thought that they would be bigger somehow, written sizes like 18-24mm don't mean much to me unfortunately unless I've got a ruler i front of me!
I didn't think that I'd get too far with the 1st one as it's in a bit of a state!
I can also see the black lines on the shoulders of the 3rd one now I look more closely; I didn't see them before. Note to self: look a lot closer!
Jo
