Hello just thought I'd share my news after waiting patiently for nearly 4 weeks going out every morning and evening to check on my Magpie moth pupa, I did my usual going straight out the back door after getting in from work to my joy: one was fully out and another was just emerging

, so I dashed back in for camera and attached some of my pics. It struggled for ages like Houdini and his straight jacket, eventually managing to climb out of the pupa and going to rest in a hidden

spot to unfurl it's wings. This morning I went out to check on them, the one that had been fully emerged (hidden behind a honeysuckle leaf hence no decent photo

!) hadn't moved, for a moment couldn't see the other one by the gooseberry bush when I spotted it - mating

!! Unfortunately didn't get a decent photo before one fell off onto the ground, presumably the male? I know it's a very common occurrence, but it's my first time to see it and I feel very privileged - well chuffed to bits

!!
Jane
