| | | Catoptria margaritella ??? Found this in my garden moth trap one morning recently and potted it knowing it was a Catoptria but not one I'd seen before. Very busy trap so I put it in the fridge for processing and photographing. ID'd it (I hope) as Catoptria margaritella and took photo's below and then released it. I then read up on it in my Pyralid book and this is what is says about it:
"Lives on boggy heaths and moors in north Scotland...mosses of northern England as far south as Staffs and north Norfolk, Cornwall, Devon and Somerset and parts of Wales."
I live in north Surrey!
Has anyone come across this in north Surrey/west London before?
Do you agree with my ident'.
Cheers,
Adam |

I saw a lot of little grass moths last night past 2.30am, yet to edit them and I think there was a good variety. Seems to be a good year for them!

| | | Re: Catoptria margaritella ??? Certainly very good for Chrysoteuchia, Crambus pascuella, C. inquinatella and C. perlella. Had the streaky version of perlella in my trap this morning too. New one for me. Lots of Yponomeuta too.
Cheers,

| | | Re: Catoptria margaritella ??? Woohoo! It's a first for Surrey according to those that know. Just got to submit the details to the county recorder now. |
