| | | Re: 2 for ID please Thanks Peter. I googled lozotaeniodes formosanus and UK Moths came back with: Quote: |
This very attractive species is locally distributed in southern England and Wales, and shows a preference for Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) woodland
| I'm in West Yorkshire and nowhere near any Scots Pine. Does anyone know if this moth is unusual in West Yorkshire? |

| | | Re: 2 for ID please Thanks for the IDs. Interesting to note that the NBN map on UK Moths doesn't show records for lozotaeniodes formosanus in Yorkshire but it is listed under the recorded species on the Butterfly Conservation - Yorkshire Branch website micromoths3. It doesn't say how frequently it's been recorded here though. |

| | | Re: 2 for ID please Don't know if you're interested, but I caught Lozotaeniodes formosanus on the
6th July, last Tuesday. I'm in East Yorkshire at the moment, and I was equally interested in the description of the distribution of this moth on UKmoths.
I got my moth identified on Back Garden Moths 6th of July - distinctive micro moths in need of confirmation & ID |

| | | Re: 2 for ID please Thanks Yashca. Interesting to see that it is not recorded in the either West or East Yorkshire, with the closest record shown on that map in South Lancs. I notice that few of the datasets used in the NBN map relate to Yorkshire though, so maybe it's just under recorded... or perhaps a more southerly species extending its range? | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
