moth & butterfly ID please!

Hi everyone,

Going back through some photos from the summer (remember the summer?!) I found these unidentified beasties. Can anyone help please? I've asked for a moth field guide for christmas...

Hi Ian.
1st one is a Small or Essex Skipper butterfly
2nd is a Pale Eggar moth
3rd is one of the Noctuid moths but is a bit too worn to ID.

. No.1 aint Small or Essex Skipper, its a Large Skipper.
Didnt look properly & its been a while since summer.

Hi Ian,

number 3 looks as if it could be a Square Spot Rustic - Xestia xanthographa, but like Deer Stalker says it's been in the wars a bit so I'm not 100%.
