| | | help, help, help!! evening
As a sufferer of mottephopia, you can imagine my horror while at work last week, (i work nights) a moth the size of a small airplane entered the office and has proceeded to harass me every night since, I'm wondering what it is really and how to make it leave me alone.
its huge like i said (wingspan is around 8 centimeters), and sounds like a helicopter flying around the room, and when crashing into walls it sounds like they are being hit with a hammer, shaped like an elephant hawk moth but completely black... nor is it shy, it harasses and dive bombs just about anything thats moving and being the only one at work who's scared of moths I'm the only one this really affects and it seems to target me over everyone else....how do i get rid of it??
if pictures are needed i can try getting some tonight.
thanks

| | | Re: help, help, help!! Hi Scott and welcome to WAB.
It is hard to say for sure ,but could it be a Poplar Hawkmoth? If you can get a photo that would be useful,it sounds like the moth might come to you!It probably only wants to get in your ears or your hair(at ease yet )

If you really want to ID it, then get a photo if you can, but really, you need to ask someone to just put a cup and cardboard over it and let it out of the window or take it outside. Poor thing is probably starving by now, unless it likes coffee spills. |

Yes, get a picture if you can but basically let it go out of the window ... turn lights off in the room, open the window and there it goes .... |

| | | Re: help, help, help!! An update!!
with all doors in the office open the thing is still not willing to leave, even with the a/c making the room -50
nor will it stay still long enough to have its photo taken...although i have now decided it may be very dark brown not black....but I'm not sure yet...it may even be both
further updates to come when possible
