Oh Dear Scott , I'll know not to invite you to see my Moth trappings then ! does sound like a Poplar Hawk I had one yesterday, they really are Beautiful with Brown and Lilac wings . I hope that both you and the Moth are Happily parted soon !

another update!!

the moth has left the office at last....good stuff!! thanks people who helped

now the bad bit...moth has been replaced by a new moth...equally huge...very similar shape but glides about rather than flying like a normal one...this one is a kind of bright orangey-red colour! any ideas?....its nowhere near as brazen as the brown one, staying up high away from everyone but still equally disturbing and nightmarish!!

Scott try and get a photo however distant or blurry and post it on here. Any photo is better than no photo at all Sounds like the first could have been a Poplar Hawkmoth and the second could possibly be a buff form of the Poplar Hawkmoth as there are two forms - greyish-brown and buff.
