| | | Re: would a uv money checker attract moths? Evening WO,
In theory it might... if it's cheap enough you don't have anything to lose. A few of us WAB'ers have tried more home-grown ideas for trapping. I wonder if it'll be powerful enough to get them over? Keep us posted! Who owns or, if applicable, maintains the forest? You know, permission-wise for leaving your equipment there overnight... I wonder if that's necessary?
As for the MPe-65 - surely the benchmark in macro lenses, and only about £900 or so...
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: would a uv money checker attract moths? Sounds as though they wouln't mind then. Still, if anything's concerning regarding it's users then be careful... well, you know!
Anyway, now you have the lighting sorted how about retention; do you have a trapping mechanism in mind? You know, a box with a chanelled lid and egg-box material inside?
Their ' unprofessionalism' intrigues me... Still, if you come up with any habitat-specialist or rare/scarcities do let them know! These things help with conservation and site protection. |

ii wanted to look for mole crickets there is buildingwork going on around here and i keep my eyeout for species which means i can throw a spanner in their works!
parts of the forest are ancient woodland but no one has done a study there- some man found a new species of aphid there!- i mean really, i wanted to also study mammals there, but they didnt even know you could rent traps from the mammal society!
pfft.
i asked about fund raising- meaning like, lottery, fundding from other folk, their responce was 'yeah we have raffles'
i mean bless em, but they didnt have a clue

I've been thinking of having a bash at something similar, although I'm toying with the idea of using an UV LED. (3 1.5v AA batteries)
Will watch this with great interest.
