| | | Help with ID please. I'm struggling with this one, despite having a good trawl through my field guide and on UK Moths. It was attracted to actinics a couple of nights ago. Can someone ID for me please.
Thanks |

| | | Re: Help with ID please. That was my first thought, but it seemed a bit pale around the thorax. I think I'll stick with that unless someone strongly disagrees
Thanks

| | | Re: Help with ID please. I'll start by saying I'm not sure . Doesn't look quite like the Double Square-spots I've encountered. Possibly an Ingrailed Clay - they're very variable. |

| | | Re: Help with ID please. Hi Nutmeg. Yes, looking at Ingrailed Clay again I think you may have it; there is the small black dot between the orbicular stigma and the trailing edge of the wing, which the Double Square-Spot seems to have more of a dark line.
One thing I am learning about moths - identifying them is much more of a challenge than photographic them
Thanks

I enjoy trying to identify moths - although the sometimes tiny subtle differences can utterly confuse me! I often have to ask for help.

Ah, it's when you've looked through the books for ages and finally asked for help and someone says "It's a ...." and you think...hold on, haven't I had that before....check own photos and there it is.
My old teacher would have given me the hat with the big "D" on it and made me stand in the corner.....
Cheers
