Hello all, can you help?
Is the first caterpillar a red underwing - and any ideas on the other, smaller cat?
Both from my garden yesterday, under wind blown oak leaves.

Hi Ken I dont know what they are but neither of them is red underwing as this is a more slender twig like looking cat with hairy bits along the edge of the underside helping it blend onto the branch or twig it is on!

Thans for that serendipity, i'm quite disappointed, hey ho, back to the drawing board. 
However, I have sort of narrowed the other down and think its a Cabbage moth, they are green and as in this one, brownish - any steers/help with this tentative ID out there?

Looks like it could be a Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing

If the other one is angle shades, does that feed on oak? It was found in a mass of windblown oak leaves.
