I'm thinking Mottled umber ( Erannis defoliaria) seen today on heathland,

| | | Re: Mottled umber! It is probably a Mottled Umber going by the fact that it was found on heathland. Scarce Umbers (from my knowledge of them) are more restricted in their habitats to broadleaved woodland. However, it looks pretty worn to me and I wouldn't like to say definitely that it's not a Scarce Umber  I'm sure someone will be able to say more definitively. |
