As another possibility, try maybe a Scoparia/Eudonia sp., from the Crambidae sub-family, Scopariinae.

| | | Re: id help please Thanks aeshna5 i have had quite a few Rush Veneer this year and this looked markedly different i.e. much lighter and not as long that is why i discounted the Rush, will carry on looking at other examples for comparison

I think you'll find this is Eudonia angustea (Narrow-winged Grey, 1342). I've had a few of these this year - a widespread moth often seen in coastal situations, and on the wing at this time of year.

| | | Re: id help please clicka15, thanks just checked the ref (1342) and yeah looks good, although says says often coastal am about 10-12 miles inland over portsdown hill between portsmouth and southampton it was windy over the last few days so going with it.
