Regarding dissection. This is done on the genitalia and the findings show whether male or female.

Different species show differently shaped 'bits' and so this can determine species. I've never done it myself (something to get into in the future!), so someone else may give you more detail |

I was having a very senior moment when I typed that. I was just leaving for work and did a quick reply.
Of course it is to determine species. I know that and have mentioned it many times on other replies I have done. Why I said male & female is beyond me.
