Not the greatest pic sadly, being rather dark inside...
But, it seems that he favours Armani

| | | Re: Hummingbird Hawkmoth - Macroglossum stellatarum I saw one briefly in my garden visiting Phlox 'Nicky' (don't know if that's relevant! ) on 28th August this year. Haven't seen it since, last time I had them was in 2006 but also saw them a couple of years or so before that.

| | | Re: Hummingbird Hawkmoth - Macroglossum stellatarum It's been a good year for these with us but I'm never ready with the camera when I spot one around, they seem to like the perfumed flowers in the garden best Nicotiana,Jasmine and Phlox being favorite this year.I found a caterpillar in the garden a few years back and was chuffed to bits. There was actually one in Tesco's a while back, and a youngish man was trying to swat it , I think he thought it was something that would sting him , until I stepped in and told him what it was and managed to catch it and put it outside. | | | Re: Hummingbird Hawkmoth - Macroglossum stellatarum I've only seen one in the UK, in Northumberland, but I saw loads of them last year in Provence. Nice way to spend an afternoon, sitting in the hilltop village of Gordes with a beautiful landscape view watching Hawkmoths. Of course, most of that time was spent chasing around trying to get a decent photo, but still. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
