It's a Grass Veneer Moth from the Crambidae family. Perhaps a pretty worn Agriphila geniculea.

2 Books i'd recommend are Concise Guide to the Moths of Great Britain and Ireland ISBN978-0-9531399-6-5, ring bind copy about £13.
British Moths and Butterflies,a photographic guide Chris Manley,this book covers 850 Macro's,500 Micro's,plus caterpillars,ISBN978-0-7136-8636-4
about £25.
