Moth for ID

I think this is some kind of wave moth but I have not been able to identify it on UK moth site. Part of the problem for me is the transparency of the wings so not sure of the colours.

It looks to me like a Mother of Pearl - a (large!) micro

Forgive the ignorance of a novice but the term "micro" seems a bit of a misnomer as this moth was quite big - 30mm wingspan maybe a bit more

It is just that, a misnomer

Well I'm glad that's cleared up - macros can be smaller than micros and micros can be larger than macros - obvious when you think about it.
