| | | moth trap bulbs Hi, I've been using a 15w black light bulb on my home made moth trap. Im trapping up to 35 moths each night. The trap is in my back garden which is overlooked by other houses on all sides so i cant use a very bright light. If i used a 15w actinic tube would my catch improve do you think?
Has anyone tried the bulbs often recommended for reptiles such as the EXO TERRA REPTI GLO 10.0 UVB DESERT TERRARIUM LAMP.
Thanks or the help. |

| | | Re: moth trap bulbs I have run both Actinic and MV in the past and your right the MV bulb will really get your neighbours stirring! I now run a 15 watt Actinic on my Skinner trap and I get on a normal night about 150 moths. You will definately get more than 35. But at first it will overwhelm you if thats what you used to but don't be put off. Pot the ones you don't recognise and then stick them on here. We love id'ing!
Cheers Jake

| | | Re: moth trap bulbs I've never had any complaints from my neighbours about my MV bulb, which I leave on all night. Either because they're friendly or because I'm 6' 2"
