| | | Another moth for ID please
Another visitor to our 'smallest room'! I had a quick look through my little reference book but didn't recognise it. What is it, please?
Thanks. |

I've looked it up on the UK Moths site, so I see why you specified 'f. remutata' (as it hasn't got a dark band, just the two lines). It says it's common, but it is not included in my little book - I obviously need to get a better reference book for moths! |

Concise guide to the Moths of Great Britain and Ireland by Martin Townsend and Paul Waring ISBN 970-0-9531399-6-5
These are the two I would recommend depending on if you like drawings or photo's. |

| | | Re: Another moth for ID please Thanks again Dogghound, I may well get one of those (or even both).
I'm not into moths in a big way (yet!), but I like to photograph the ones that visit our house and the ones I come across on my walks, and I'd like to be able to learn to recognise a few myself without relying on WAB all the time!
I did manage to recognise a Brimstone the other day! |

| | | Re: Another moth for ID please I've ordered the Townsend/Waring book (on the grounds that it was much cheaper than the other!), and also one on Dragonflies. So I might be able to do a few more IDs for myself in the future.
Thanks again Dogghound. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
