Took this photo a couple of months ago on my mobile phone but only just found this website. Often wondered what name to put to it and find out a little more about what it does, how common it is etc. Thanks for any reply!  |

It looks like a Lime Hawk-moth - Mimas tiliae  A beauty! |

Wonderful, thank you! I doubt I will see one again any time soon but I won't forget it. I'd just put the finishing touches to my old car ready for the Summer and almost backed it into that tree stump while reversing her out of the shed...hopped out to see how close I was and there was the moth! |
