| | | A few macros Hi, me again!
Dull rainy day so keeping busy sorting moths!
I have uploaded 10 pics of which I have a feeling some many be the same species, those difficult non-descript ones so I'm hoping others have a keen eye for these.

| | | Re: A few macros I'm just about to go out so I apologise for not numbering them, but most of these are Brown Rustic (Rusina ferruginea) - possibly all bar one of the first five and at least a couple of the second five.
Also in there is a Minor sp, and Ingrailed Clay (Diarsia mendica) and a couple of Rustic Shoulder-knots (Apamea sordens).
Best wishes,
Dave |

| | | Re: A few macros OK, I have sorted out so far:
#1,2,5,6,9 Brown Rustic (I had another one named that as a possible! )
#7 Ingrailed Clay
#8, 10 Rustic Shoulder-knot
Just the Minor sp. and one more Brown Rustic to sort, if I got the rest correct that should be # 3 & 4. #4 looks like it should be the Brown Rustic. |

| | | Re: A few macros I think I can safely say #3 is a Tawny Marbled Minor Oligia latruncula as it has some tawny colouring.
Thanks again Dave! Please correct me if I've muddled them! |

| | | Re: A few macros Ok, back now, and yes, you've put the names to the moths I had in mind! #4 is also Brown Rustic.
I'm afraid you can't be certain which minor it is from the photo, as there are three species that are all equally variable and have overlapping colour forms. It should be recorded as Oligia sp, or Marbled Minor agg (Oligia strigilis agg.) depoending on your county recorder's preference.
Best Wishes,

I shall mark the tricky one as you say, Marbled Minor agg (Oligia strigilis agg.) | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
