| | | Moths for ID Here are a few of the moths that came to my trap in the garden last weekend. I've managed to put names already to most I trapped, but I just don't have the experience to ID these:
1. I think this is a Willow Beauty:
2. Is this also a Willow Beauty? More strongly marked (wing tips bent a bit by egg box):
3. Common Wave?
4. Triple-spotted Clay, Double Square Spot... or what?
5. A wave, but which? I considered Small Dusty Wave.
I have no idea for these three:
6.
7.
8.
Thanks |

| | | Re: Moths for ID 1. Yeah I reckon Willow due to converging cross-lines on forewing.
2. Same again.
3. Yep, Common Wave.
4. Double Square Spot I reckon.
5. Yeah, Small Dusty Wave.
6. I think a Scoparia sp. probably S.ambigualis.
7. Udea olivalis
8. Second generation Double Striped Pug I think - but not a particularly well marked one. |

| | | Re: Moths for ID Ah yeah, I took a brief look at the shape and thought Double Striped, but the markings do indeed suggest Freyer's more. |

| | | Re: Moths for ID Thanks for the Freyer's Pug suggestion - the patterning certainly seems to fit.
I continue to be baffled by Pugs. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
