| | National Moth Night Did you go to an organised event or run your own trap last night for National Moth Night? I went to event in Perivale Wood, Middx+ while I was there until 23.00 we caught:
Copper Underwing
Red Underwing
Large Yellow Underwing
Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing
Lunar Underwing
Brimstone
Willow Beauty
Snout
Black Rustic
Autumnal Rustic
Vine's Rustic
Large Ranunculus
Brindled Green
Straw Dot
Common Marbled Carpet
Mottled Willow
Also a handful of micros, c.10 Hornets, Orange Ladybird, Forest Bug, Cuculio weevil + 100's Tipula craneflies. Several Oak Bush-crickets were found on tree trunks + we heard many chirping Dark Bush-crickets. A good evening! |

| | | Re: National Moth Night Back garden for me. Poor conditions thick mist and very cool wind off the sea. I thought it was going to be a total no-show but I ended up with-
Common Carpet
November Moth
Brown-line Bright-eye
Green-brindled Crescent
Lunar Underwing
Angle Shades
Rosy Rustic
Silver-Y |

| | | Re: National Moth Night I had planned to go to an event last night, unfortunately I wasn't well and then had visitors turn up. I ran the trap on Thursday night in my garden and was pleased with the result though which included:-
Vestal
Engrailed
Large Yellow Underwing
Lesser Yellow Underwing
Lunar Yellow Underwing
Lunar Underwing
Pale Mottled Willow
Black Rustic
Deep Brown Dart
Common Marbled Carpet
a couple of hawthorn shield bugs and about a hundred daddy long legs. |

| | | Re: National Moth Night I was out with Fourwings and some of his friends at the Priory reserve in Leicestershire. I think we saw some 30+ species. We also took the opportunity to sample copious amounts of lager and a very nice chinese and were still good to go at 9 this morning
It was a very interesting evening, which followed an equally interesting day which saw a tour of the reserve, and many fantastic dragonfly sightings.
Today I have some sleep to catch up on. I will let Steve fill you in on what we saw, but one particular recording was very interesting indeed.

| | | Re: National Moth Night Interesting results- I'm envious of Susie's Vestal- a species I've not seen + looks quite pretty in books! After rain cleared this morning I went to Wetland Centre + regular mother there had caught c.50spp + still had a few in pots : Sallow, Black + Autumnal Rustics, Green Silverlines + couple of good migrants: Dewick's Plusia + a pyralid I'd never heard of + don't remember (no English name!) |

| | | Re: National Moth Night Snap! I gave in at 0030 hours this morning - it was way too cool n breezy. When I opened up there were just three moths in - angle shades, a very tatty lrg yellow u/wing and a bordered straw. . .
Disappointing as the day had been quite hot here in the northwest and had that sneaky wind not got up then I think it might have been a much better night.
