| | | Silver Y in January Complete surprise. On Friday evening I went into my bedroom and saw what I thought was a mark on the carpet. On closer inspection it turned out to be a Silver Y Moth Autographa gamma in very good condition and able to fly strongly. I suspect it must have been hibernating behind the curtains having entered the house last Autumn.

| | | Re: Silver Y in January Right now, I'd be happy to see the smallest, most obscure micro moth! Nice find.

| | | Re: Silver Y in January I know in the southern part of England they do fly all year on more mild winters, most of our individuals are European migrants. So if indeed they are hibernating over here (and surviving) thats a good sign. |

| | | Re: Silver Y in January Sometimes migrants arrive in winter + we have had some westerly winds in the last couple of days.
Last year saw very few migrants + I normally see tons of silver- Ys; last year I saw a grand total of just 2! |

| | | Re: Silver Y in January I doubt it has migrated recently as I can't see how it has got in the house.
