I have just got to tell everyone about when I saw a hummer laying eggs this year and I collected four of them. They hatched and the catapillers grew up fast and the four of them have now turned into pupae. They are sitting beside me at the moment and by the look of them they could be breaking out into moths tonight or tomorrow. I have posted the story in another forum with plenty of pictures, I will endevor to tell the story here one day. In the meantime I have my camera ready to take pictures of these in captivity. |

I've just seen one as well! To be more accurate, a hummingbird hawk moth appeared in my Staffordshire garden (near Lichfield) a few days ago, feedng on a clump of white phlox. flowers. I watched it for a few minutes until it flew away. Had never seen one before except in a book so I was very excited. It came back again today, to the same flowers, stayed a few minutes then cleared off. Now it's back again, so we must be doing something right here! |

Never seen one this far north before. |

I'd never seen or heard of them before and like many of you thought it was an actual humming bird! I've been searching the internet to find out what it was and luckily stumbled on this great site! Well done with the great pics Bushcraft and Cherrybee! |
