Plume-moth ID

Anyone recognise this little guy? I tried IDing him, but plume-moths all seem to look the same to me

I'm afraid that I usually only go as far as Pterophoridae sp. with the plumes usually. I've not yet found a good guide to this group, and when I have to id them further than family I have to break out my 1927 edition of Meyrick's British Lepidoptera which generally goes on wing venation. My hunch is that it could be a Trichoptilus sp. or possibly Alucita but I wouldn't take that as gospel...

Hi Imaginos, Have you tried ......MICROLEPIDOPTERA OF EUROPE. Edited by P. Huemer, O. Karsholt & L. Lyneborg. 25 x 17 cm. Hardback.
Vol. 1: Gielis, C.: Pterophoridae. 1996. 222 pages. 16 colour plates. Line drawings of genitalia for all species. ISBN 87-88757-36-6.

I was considering purchasing it but if it's not much good I'll wait for the MBGBI volume.

No, I haven't tried this one. To me, the trouble with the plumes is that visually they are very similar in most cases and I'm not sure even the best field guide will be able to separate them easily.
If you do get it let me know how you get on...

Hi All
MICROLEPIDOPTERA OF EUROPE - is this the best book for all micro moths? I have some good macro moth books (Waring, Skinner etc) but nothing for micros.
