Identify Moth

Hi
Can someone identify this moth for me please. I don't wat to use the forum as a reference library, but do appreciate the help a recomend for a general book on the subject would also be appeciated.

It is a Copper Underwing Amphipyra pyramidea see:http://www.bioimages.org.uk/HTML/R139177.HTM

A good general book is the Collins Field Guide Insects of Britain & N. Europe by Michael Chinery.

Copper Underwing won't be in Chinery, if you're looking for a good moth book-& have a spare £50-Bernard Skinner's Moths of Britain & Ireland is the best choice.

Hi Imaginos

I dont think I will go for the book at £50, the moth was just one I found on the hall wall one morning. The book I have is Butterflies and Moths of Britain and Europe by H Hofmann and T Marktanner I will send for the one you told me about at £12.00 from Amarzon.
