| | | Re: Hummingbird Hawk Moth I saw one Hummingbird Hawkmoth in my garden in SW Ireland about a week ago, at about the same time as the Painted Ladies were coming through. |

| | | Re: Hummingbird Hawk Moth I'm not sure if its possible this far north but we've just seen what looks like a hummingbird moth in our garden on moorland in county Durham .
We first saw it yesterday , feeding on pink flowers in a hanging basket , and tonight at 6.30 pm on the same flowers.
Is it possible or is there anything else it could possibly be ? |

Is it possible or is there anything else it could possibly be ? | It's certainly possible. As a migrant it can occur almost anywhere in the UK, though generally more abundant in the south. The behaviour sounds good but without a photo can't be 100%. |

Is it possible or is there anything else it could possibly be ? | In past years my cousins have seen them at Rothbury, so it is certainly possible. The hot summer may have helped them reach Scotland this year. I don't think there is anything else similar. Until my first post on this, they were an exotic in a book, so I was delighted when I had a couple of sightings in Egham. Not seen any this year.
PS Hooray! The new password mechanism works at last. The next bit isn't as instructed, but once in I was finally able to set a new password.
